Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced the exemption of custom duty on 36 life-saving drugs. This measure is aimed at reducing treatment costs for cancer and rare diseases. Additional medicines and patient programs have also received exemptions. The government also plans to promote medical tourism, increase medical seats, and set up Day Care Cancer Centres in district hospitals.
